Summary: Learn about the benefits of joining the Pedal Club and how to participate.
Pedal Club questions Answers
Who's eligible? Any faculty, staff, or student who lives off campus and doesn't buy the limited or annual parking permit may participate in the Pedal Club.
What are the benefits? Once you join the Pedal Club, you can enjoy these benefits:
  • Park free when necessary: Members requiring flexibility in their commuting schedule will get an Occasional Use permit worth 10 complimentary days of parking per quarter.
  • Maintenance discount: The UCSD Bike Shop discounts accessories, parts, and labor by 10%.
  • Free shower access: Bring your Campus Card to Commute Solutions and receive a free sticker that gives you shower access at the main gym and Canyonview pool without needing a recreation card. Lockers are available there for daily rental.
  • Shared vehicle use for free: Pay no Zipcar application fee or annual membership fee, and receive rental credits (when you meet UCSD eligibility requirements).
  • Emergency rides home: Register in advance for Guaranteed Ride Home, a SANDAG program that provides rides in case of illness, unscheduled overtime, or family emergencies. Registered users, dial 511 when you need a ride.
How does the Pedal Club work? Pedal Club members must:
  • Commit to cycling regularly
  • Register their bicycles periodically with the state of California
What does it cost? Pedal Club registration is free. Members pay $6 to register their bicycles with the state of California.
