How to Install Stunnel for TCP3270 (PC)  
 
Summary: You must secure access to the ACT mainframe by configuring your software to use a protocol for protecting data. If you have TCP3270 on your PC, follow the steps below.
What to do How to do it
1 Install Stunnel.
  1. Start the download.
  2. Click Save in the File Download window.
  3. Choose the folder where you want to put the file, and click Save.
  4. Go to the folder and double-click UCSD_ACT_Stunnel.exe. Follow the Install Wizard’s instructions by clicking the Next buttons and Finish.
  5. The procedure will:
    • Install into a new folder in your program files folder.
    • Add a task to your startup menu so Stunnel will start automatically whenever you boot up.
    • Add a shortcut icon on your desktop.
  6. If the download doesn't work with your browser, follow these steps:
    1. Right-click the download link in Step 1a above.
    2. Click Save Target As, choose the folder where you want to put the file, and click Save.
    3. Go to the folder and double-click UCSD_ACT_Stunnel.exe. Follow the Install Wizard’s instructions by clicking the Next buttons and Finish.
2 Modify your TCP3270 software to use Stunnel by changing your host connection address from hubble.ucsd.edu to 127.0.0.1.
  1. Follow these steps:
    1. Start a session.
    2. Select Options at the top of the window.
    3. Click Session Profile.
    4. In Session Profile, scroll down the category list on the left and click Host category.
    5. Enter 127.0.0.1 in the IP Host/ Gateway field, then click Save.
    6. In the Save Profile window, click Save to:
      • Save the profile with the same name.
      • Close the save profile window.
      • Close the session profile window.
    7. Close the TCP3270 session.
    8. Restart your PC to activate Stunnel.

  2. If you need to shut down Stunnel, right click the icon at the bottom of your screen and exit.

    If you need to restart Stunnel, you can click the Stunnel icon on your desktop or restart your PC.

    Remember, without Stunnel or other SSL support, you won’t be allowed to access the ACT mainframe.
