Parking: Time-Controlled Zones  
 
Summary: Learn about parking rules for time-controlled zones.

If you park at UCSD, follow the rules below to avoid expensive parking citations:

  • Observe time-controlled zone regulations 24 hours daily, including weekends and university-designated holidays.
  • Never exceed the posted time limit unless you have a permit authorizing otherwise.
  • Notify Parking, (858) 822-3379, if you can't move your car within the time limit specified in a time-controlled zone.
Type of time-controlled zone Parking rules
Green or white passenger zone Observe the 3-minute limit.
Loading zone Observe the posted time limit, even if you have a Disabled Person placard or license plate.
Service yard Observe the 2-hour limit.

Note: A permit and service yard access sticker or vendor stamp are required.


Yellow curb Observe the 20-minute limit.
