Tips
Only persons with disabilities and a Disabled Person placard or plates
may park in accessible spaces.
If you have a Disabled Person (DP) placard or license plates, you can park without a UCSD parking permit in either an accessible or metered parking space (with no fee).
Clearly display your DP placard/ plates.
The only person authorized to use a DP placard or plates is a disabled person. Another person may drive a vehicle that displays a DP placard or plates but the authorized user must be in the vehicle at the time. The authorized user must even remain in the vehicle while the driver parks in an accessible or metered space.
Only the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) can issue DP placards/ plates:
Get an application (PDF) for a DP placard/ plates.
You and a licensed medical doctor must complete the application.
Submit the application to the DMV.
You must always carry the DP identification card that accompanies your DP placard/ plates.
Show it to law enforcement officers upon request.
DP placards expire periodically. Make sure your placard is up to date.
