Price Center "Name the Neighborhood" initiative The expansion of the Price Center complex to accommodate UCSD's growing population offers many opportunities, including the chance to provide input on the new name and "brand" of our expanding campus hub.

Campaign for UCSD wrap-up Launched in July 2000, the Campaign for UCSD has ended, reaching its $1 billion in fundraising goal. Campaign wrap-up efforts will focus on thanking diverse contributors, publicizing the impact of donations, and supporting strong donor relationships.

Campuswide branding initiative UCSD is engaged in a long-term effort to identify and strengthen its external messages and institutional brand on a regional, national, and international scale. Numerous campus stakeholders, including the Marketing Council, will play a role in shaping, promoting, and implementing this evolving brand identity.

New media initiative The campus New Media workgroup is investigating best practices and uses of Web 2.0 in addition to researching new media tools for marketing UCSD.

Sustainability initiative With the sustainable practices, research, and curriculum occurring at UCSD, the council and its sustainability workgroup will help facilitate the exchange of information and provide marketing support for existing efforts. Primary sustainable campus activities include:
  • Negotiation of power purchase agreements for solar and methane-driven fuel cell power generation
  • Incorporation of electric vehicles and biodiesel buses for campus transportation
  • Interdisciplinary integration of environmental sustainability issues into existing curriculum
  • Collaboration between UCSD researchers and the private, nonprofit, and government sectors to develop solutions to environmental problems and promote development of a green technology sector in San Diego
