Setting Up iPhone 2.0.x Mail for Exchange  
 
Summary: Follow these steps to set up iPhone 2.0 Mail to access your UCSD Exchange e-mail account.

Before you begin, you need:

  • An Active Directory (AD) username and password. Your username is usually the first part of your UCSD e-mail address before the @ symbol. If you forgot your password, reset it at adpass.ucsd.edu.
  • An Exchange account in the UCSD Campus Exchange Organization
  • The name of the Exchange server that hosts your Exchange mailbox

For help with any of the above, contact your system administrator or the ACT Help Desk.

What to do How to do it
1 Set up an e-mail account using Mail.
  1. If you haven't set up a Mail account on your iPhone, select Mail from the main window.
  2. If you're adding a Mail account to your iPhone, select Settings, then Mail, Contacts, Calendar, and Add Account.

2 Select the account type.
  1. Select Microsoft Exchange.

3 Enter your account information.
  1. Enter your UCSD e-mail address in the Email field.
  2. Enter your AD username beginning with ad as shown in the image.
  3. Enter your AD password in the Password field and your UCSD e-mail address in the Description field.
  4. Click Next.

4 Accept the Exchange Server Certificate.
  1. If prompted, click Allow to accept the Exchange Server Certificate.

5 Enter your Exchange server.
  1. Enter mail.ucsd.edu in the Server field if you use the central Exchange server. Contact your system administrator if your department uses a different server.
  2. Click Next.

6 Select which features to synchronize.
  1. Select the features to synchronize with your Exchange account:
    • Note: Synchronizing Contacts and Calendars with your Exchange account removes your iPhone's existing Contacts and Calendars.
  2. Verify your settings if prompted. Click Save.
  3. Click Sync.
