Supervisor responsibilities
Supervisors must ensure that employees enrolled in UCSD's Hearing Conservation Program receive information about the program through orientations, job training and instruction, specific training programs, and periodic safety committee meetings.
See Hearing Conservation Training to schedule training with the Hearing Conservation Program coordinator.
Recordkeeping requirements
- Training records: Departments must maintain employee training records and file them with other departmental safety records.
- Employee noise exposure data: Noise exposure records are maintained by EH&S and are kept for a minimum of 2 years.
- Audiometric test records:
- The employee's department must retain audiometric testing results for as long as the employee works within the department.
- The UCSD Occupational and Environmental Medicine (COEM) also mails a copy to the employee. COEM can provide prior copies of audiometric test records at the department's request.
Employee right to know
Employees have the right to review records of their noise exposure and audiometric testing. Contact your supervisor or the Hearing Conservation Program Coordinator.
