Personnel Activity Reporting: Percent of Pay Calculation
| |
Summary: Read how the Personnel Activity Reporting (PAR) system calculates percent of pay, and learn when you need to modify the calculated percent of pay because of exceptions. |
How does the PAR system work? The Personnel Activity Reporting system calculates an employee's percent of pay for each fund source, based on payroll information from the employee database including pay distribution, effective date, and related gross pay.
Department responsibility: The percent of pay calculation on the Personnel Activity Report (PAR) is provided as a guideline for verifying effort. In some situations (see below for examples), this calculation may not accurately reflect appointment or effort percentages. It is the department's responsibility to certify the actual percent of effort and recalculate percent of pay if necessary.
When salary calculations do not fairly represent effort, check the calculation against the percentage of appointment. In general, the reported percentage of effort for any fund should equal or exceed the percentage of appointment.
