Health and Safety Coordinating Council

The major responsibilities of this council include:

  • Advising the vice chancellor – Business Affairs on policies relating to health, safety, and environmental protection at UCSD
  • Assuring the effectiveness of programs to implement those policies
  • Providing policy guidance on all matters related to health, safety, and the environment
  • Reviewing activities of appropriate health, safety, and environment committees to assure effectiveness and coordination
  • Monitoring the effectiveness of the university's environmental, health, and safety program by periodic review of accident and incident reports, and other activities as appropriate
  • Reviewing those university environmental, health, and safety compliance activities that require response to local, state, and federal agency regulations

Council charge:
The Council advises the chancellor through the vice chancellor – Business Affairs on policies relating to health, safety and environmental protection at UCSD and assures the effectiveness of programs to implement those policies. Responsibilities of the Council:

  1. Provide policy guidance on all matters related to health, safety and the environment
  2. Review activities of appropriate health, safety and environment committees to assure effectiveness and coordination
  3. Monitor the effectiveness of the university's environmental, health and safety program by periodic review of accident and incident reports, and other activities as appropriate
