Individual supervisors must identify job-specific hazards and make sure their employees attend required and recommended safety training for the type of work they perform.
Injury & Illness Prevention Program (IIPP)
Required for all employees receiving compensation from UCSD. You need to attend only once in your career.
Note: IIPP training is recommended for anyone working in a high-hazard environment, regardless of payroll status.

Required for employees who generate any chemical waste from a shop or studio.

Required for employees who are enrolled in UCSD's Respiratory Protection Program and use an air-purifying respirator.

Required annually for employees who may encounter asbestos in their work environment.

Required for employees who, as part of their required job duties, enter confined spaces as defined by Cal/OSHA.

Environmental Compliance / Pollution Prevention, Levels 1 and 2
Required for maintenance and service units with work activities that can impact storm water discharge, with a focus on developing and implementing Best Management Practices (BMPs) to address these pollutant sources.

Required for employees who, as part of their job, are exposed to noise levels at or above 85 decibels over an eight-hour workday.

Required for employees who work outside in heat or hot conditions.

Lock Out/ Block Out Training
Required for anyone who directly repairs or maintains equipment or machinery where the release of energy (electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, thermal, chemical, nuclear, etc.) could cause injury or death.

Ergonomics for Trades Employees
Recommended for employees performing repetitive motions, standing for prolonged periods of time, frequently bending, leaning, and lifting, or operating hand tools.
