Student employees are indispensable at UCSD. Make safety awareness a key part of the work experience by ensuring student employees are fully trained to work in a manner that protects not only themselves, but everyone with whom they interact.
Mentoring or assigning an experienced employee to train the student worker can make a difference.
Supervisors' Responsibilities
Individual supervisors and principal investigators must identify job-specific hazards and make sure their employees attend safety training appropriate for the work they perform. Select a category to see required and recommended training:
Injury & Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) Requirement
Student workers receiving compensation from UCSD must attend 1 of the IIPP training sessions below, depending on the work environment:
Student Access to Enrollment Central
Have student employees register online for Enrollment Central safety training.
- When students select the "Enroll in class" option, they'll select the Student Sign On tab and use their UC San Personal ID number (PID) and Personal Access Code (PAC) to sign on.
Online registration has the advantage of capturing course attendance in Enrollment Central's Training History and Blink's MyTraining tool, where training records can be verified.
Questions about safety training at UCSD? Contact the EH&S safety training manager, (858) 822-5974. If Environment, Health & Safety doesn't offer the training you need, other resources will be recommended.
