Requirement:

Employees exposed to noise level at or above 85 decibels over an 8-hour workday as part of their job must receive hearing conservation training before beginning work.

Topics covered include:

• UCSD's Hearing Conservation Program
• Terminology and concepts relating to sound pressure level
• Anatomy of the ear and types of hearing loss
• Methods of reducing high noise levels
• Types of hearing protection and proper usage

How to get the training:

Training is available upon request. Contact EH&S Occupational Health & Hygiene division, (858) 534-1075, to schedule training. Instruction time is 1 hour.
