Summary: Learn about the UCSD Staff Association, what it does, and how you can join.

The UCSD Staff Association promotes communication among staff, with the administration, and with other members of the university community on matters of interest to staff employees.

Any UCSD employee can join by sending a membership form (Word file) (PDF) and $6 to Teresa Hull, Membership Chair (Mail Code 0089), (858) 534-5366. Purchase a Lifetime Membership for $100 and $50 will go to staff scholarships. Membership fees help create educational opportunities and expand exciting activities beneficial to all UCSD employees.

Advantages of membership:

  • Scholarship funds available for staff career development and continuing education
  • Opportunities to serve on campuswide committees that provide recommendations to the administration
  • Representation at the Council of UC Staff Assemblies (CUCSA), a collective exchange of representatives from all UC campuses, labs, and Office of the President
  • Opportunities to present ideas and staff views on issues affecting the university through
    • Annual general Staff Association meetings
    • "Staff Chat" sessions on the third Wednesday of each month, Porter’s Pub patio (map)
  • Occasions to make new friends, to meet and interact with other UCSD staff

Activities sponsored by the UCSD Staff Association:

  • Annual All Staff Appreciation Picnic
  • Competitive Vice Chancellor Area Volleyball Tournament
  • Festive annual Holiday Pancake Breakfast
  • Children's toy drive and visit by Santa to UCSD hospitals
  • Monthly Learn at Lunch programs, co-sponsored with the Faculty/ Staff Assistance Program, where stimulating topics and motivational guest speakers are scheduled the second Tuesday of the month
  • Catastrophic Leave Donation Program Donor Identification registry (for donations of vacation hours to staff members in need)
  • Fundraisers in support of staff scholarships
    • Purchase UCSD calendars by the Visual Arts Group (VAG) available at the UCSD Bookstore
    • Theater discount tickets
    • Arts and crafts fairs
    • Bake sales
  • Community service projects and events
  • Donation of eyeglasses/ sunglasses to MEDICO
