The Business Contracts Office, part of the Procurement & Contracts division of Business and Financial Services, handles complex legal and contractual matters.
Business Contracts professionals have delegated authority to draft, negotiate, and sign contracts on behalf of the UC Regents for UCSD. This delegation comes from the president of the university through the UCSD chancellor. Unless specifically granted by the chancellor or a designee, no other UCSD entity, faculty, or staff has this authority.
Please do not sign contracts. If you sign a contract or agreement for your department, you are accepting personal liability for any terms. Please contact Business Contracts if a vendor or contractor has asked you to sign a contract, quote, invoice, or other document.
Business Contracts also provides problem-avoidance advice and recommendations and aids in problem resolution when necessary.
Business Contracts staff assist the campus in making sound business decisions in accordance with university policies and procedures and protecting the university from liability and financial risk.
