This unit provides counseling and vocational rehabilitation services to staff and faculty who have a medical condition — including problems resulting from alcohol and drug abuse and/or mental stress — that interferes with their ability to work or return to work after a medical leave. Services include:
- Counseling, including career and personal counseling for people with disabilities
- Return-to-work and job accommodation options identification
- Speech recognition software selection
- Job placement, training, and transitional employment services
- Training classes
- Vocational evaluation and rehabilitation counseling
- Fitness-for-duty evaluations
- Assistance to event or activity sponsors in arranging for American
Sign Language interpretation or real time captioning coordination
services for faculty, staff, and visitors
Management consultation is also available for interpretation on reasonable accommodation of a worker with a disability as required by the Rehabilitation Act, the Americans with Disability Act, the California Fair Employment Act, and California Workers' Compensation Labor Code Sections.
