Summary: Use the voice mail tutorial to learn how to set your password and record your name and greeting.
What to do How to do it
1 Begin the tutorial.
  1. Call the Voice Mail Message Center:
    • If you are on campus, call 42000 or 48000 (if the first number doesn't work, try the second number)
    • If you are off campus, call (858) 534-2000 or (858) 534-8000
  2. Enter your default password, UCSD (8273) and press #
  3. Enter your mailbox ID number and press #
Note: Your mailbox ID number is the same as your 5-digit telephone extension number.
2 Set up your password.
  1. Enter your new password and press #.
  2. For verification, re-enter your password and press #.
Note: For security reasons, you must change your password (from the default password). Your new password must be at least 4 digits long.

3 Record your name.
  1. Record your name after the beep.
  2. Press # when you have finished recording.
  3. Choose one of the following options:
    • Press # to save.
    • Press 2 to review.
    • Press 3 to re-record.
4 Record your greeting.
  1. Record your greeting after the beep.
    The voice mail system adds "please leave a message" at the end of your recorded personal greeting. To avoid duplicating those words, don't use them in your greeting. For example say, "This is John Doe and I'm not available."
  2. Press # when you have finished recording.
  3. Choose one of the following options:
    • Press # to save.
    • Press 2 to review.
    • Press 3 to re-record.
  4. You will hear a welcome message and brief orientation on how voice mail works.
Note: You can change your password or recorded name at any time by selecting Manage Personal Options from the main menu.
