Class B certification is required for drivers who:
- Transport 10 or more passengers, including the driver
- Operate a van rented, leased, or owned by UCSD Fleet Services that has the capacity to seat more than 10 people (effective Jan. 1, 2005)

The Class B license for transporting passengers requires a passenger endorsement, issued by the DMV. Fleet Services provides behind-the-wheel training for Class B certification only for employees who require a commercial driver license for university employment or drive UCSD Vanpool passenger vans.
To begin the process of obtaining a commercial license, visit the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
