Summary: Learn about the excellent desktop support, computer installation, and repair services available on campus.

Academic Computing Services (ACS)/ Desktop Support

    Desktop Support
    • On-site hardware support for Apple, Dell, and other PC computers, excluding laptops
    • On-site software installation, setup, and support for Windows and Apple systems (server and clients)
    • On-site laser printer support (networked and standalone)
    • Sales and installation of software via Software Distribution
    • Security measures deployed and configured, such as firewall, anti-virus protection, and anti-spyware
    • Secure remote network storage available
    • Software training on selected applications
    • Remote and on-site IT management services available


    • Note: Desktop Support does not provide programming services for databases or Linux/ Unix Systems. For Unix, contact ACS Unix Support.

ACS Computer Repair and Installation

    ACS Computer Repair and Installation (CRI) provides the UCSD community with expert hardware repair and upgrade support. It offers in-shop repairs and upgrades for computers and printers. CRI is authorized to perform warranty work on Apple, Dell, and IBM computers. CRI can also work on most out-of-warranty machines.

    Certified Network Technicians are also available for your network installation needs.

UCSD Bookstore Computer Center

    The UCSD Bookstore, in conjunction with CRI, will accept items for repair from Apple, Dell, and IBM. You can drop off and pick up items anytime during the Bookstore's hours of operation, including evenings and weekends.
