Transaction Sampling: How to Read the Summary by Dollars Report

Summary: Learn how to read the Transaction Sampling Management Report summarized by dollars.

The Summary by Dollars report provides you with an error rate you can use to assess the dollar value of the risk caused by incorrect transactions. This report is divided into three sections:
Report section What it shows
Transaction View Current snapshot of sampling environment
  • Sampled and Population figures will not change.
  • Reviewed and Not Reviewed rows will change based on departmental review and correction.
  • All samples are initially listed as Not Reviewed.
  • Your goal is to reduce the Not Reviewed value to zero.
  • If the dollar value of Not Reviewed is high compared to Reviewed, further analysis isn't recommended because of the lack of data.
ENPET Summary Indication of the level of risk of disallowance and/or operational or procedural inefficiencies
  • The variance rate shows the ratio of the value of high-risk ENPETS to reviewed transactions.
  • If the dollar value for Overall Variance ENPETs is high, investigate further.
  • If the number of Low-Risk ENPETs is high, examine your procedures and training for ENPETs.
  • If the number of High-Risk ENPETs is high, this is a serious problem and a disallowance risk. Investigate further.
Counts of High-Risk ENPET Variance Statistics Where the problems lie
  • Comparison of dollars in the High-Risk ENPETs row of the ENPET Summary and this section indicate the problem areas that necessitated an ENPET (incorrect index or fund, wrong account, etc.)
  • This section may also indicate incorrect use of ENPETs to correct problems.
  • Run the transaction management report again using the status code checkboxes to determine problem areas. For example, click the Show Status Code Counts by Index Number to see if a particular index is causing the problem.
  • The difference between Global and Targeted is significant:
    • Global transactions are chosen randomly from large populations and represent overall level of risk and performance.
    • Targeted transactions are problem areas and are expected to have higher variance rates.
    • Once the variance rates of Targeted and Global profiles become close, they may be inactivated.
