Request the feature. |
- Send an e-mail to the ACT Help Desk.
- Make your subject line Voice mail to e-mail.
- In the body of your message, include your office phone number.
- Wait for ACT to send you an e-mail response confirming the new feature.

Activate the feature. |
- Visit the UCSD Voice Mail Web page.
- Enter your 5-digit phone extension in the username field.
- Enter your voice mail password in the password field.
- Click the Rules tab at the top of the page.
- Click Create New Voice Mail Rule.
- Select Forward Copy under Voice Mail Message Rules and click Continue.
- Scroll down to the Have Incoming Calls Forward to section and enter your e-mail address.
- Click Save at the bottom of the page.
Note: For security, change your voice mail password if your password is your phone extension or you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

Check voice mail messages from your e-mail. |
- Receive an e-mail from UCSD Voice Mail.
- Open the e-mail and click on the attachment. You may be prompted to download a media player.
- Listen to your voice mail message. You may need to turn on your sound or adjust the volume.
Note: The message waiting indicator on your desk phone will not turn off after you listen to the audio file from your e-mail. Continue to manage your voice mail account (save, delete, forward, etc.) from your voice mailbox.

Manage the feature. |
- Once activated, you can turn the feature on or off as needed from the UCSD Voice Mail Web page.
- Enter your 5-digit phone extension in the username field.
- Enter your voice mail password in the password field.
- Click the Rules tab at the top of the page.
- Check or uncheck the Enable box under My Voice Mail Messages Rules to turn the feature on or off.
