Summary: If your phone doesn't have a dial tone, use this checklist to help solve the problem.
What to check How to check it
1 Check the handset.
  1. Ensure that the handset wire is securely plugged into the base unit.
2 Check the base unit.
  1. Check the wire at the rear. A bad connection can be improved by removing and reinstalling the plug.
3 Check the base unit connection.
  1. Ensure that the base unit is plugged into a voice or phone jack. It will not function if it is plugged into a data jack.
