How to Dispose of Batteries for Hazardous Waste Generators  
 
Summary: If you are a Hazardous Waste Generator and have a Waste Generator Number (WGN), follow these procedures for used battery disposal.
What you should do How you should do it
1 Package and label the batteries.
  1. Place the batteries in a sturdy bag or container.
  2. Label the bag or container with a hazardous waste tag. Fill out the tag completely, including the type of batteries enclosed. (Hazardous waste tags, part number #2188, are available from the Marketplace Preview.)
2 Request a waste pickup.
