Approach: The UCSD Pest Management Services team uses an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) system to determine if treatments are needed in a UCSD facility. IPM employs physical, mechanical, cultural, biological, and educational methods to limit pest problems. The least toxic chemical pesticides are used only as a last resort.
The team strives to teach pest management principles so the campus community can learn how to prevent pest problems and find the best pest control solutions. This provides the most permanent control and makes the best use of limited resources.
